Editorial policy

Scholarl accepts already-published journal articles being self-archived by their author or publisher, preprints, conference papers, theses, and technical reports. The depositing author is responsible for confirming they hold the right to share the work - either as the original author, with the publisher's permission, or under that publisher's own self-archiving policy. Duplicate deposits of the same paper are not accepted; Scholarl checks new submissions against existing titles before they go live.

Peer review

For work that was already published elsewhere, peer review took place at that original venue - Scholarl records and links to that venue rather than re-reviewing the work itself. Preprints and other original deposits are explicitly labelled as not peer-reviewed. Every submission is checked for completeness and compliance (a real abstract, a genuine text-based PDF, correctly attributed authorship) before it is indexed. Corrections and retractions are handled by the editorial team; a corrected or withdrawn record keeps a visible history rather than silently disappearing.

Rights and licensing

Authors and original publishers retain their rights. Where a deposited paper already carries a licence from its original publication, that licence is preserved and shown on the record. Where no licence is specified, Scholarl applies a CC BY 4.0 default. Scholarl does not relicense or claim ownership of deposited work.

Data availability

Where an article includes a data availability statement, it is shown on the record alongside the abstract. Where one is not provided, readers should contact the corresponding author directly for questions about underlying data.
