About Scholarl

Scholarl is an open scholarly repository: a place where research gets a permanent, citable, publicly accessible record.

What Scholarl is

Every deposit on Scholarl gets its own dedicated page with complete bibliographic metadata, a stable PDF, and the machine-readable citation data that scholarly search engines and reference managers rely on to discover and index research. Records are built to standard technical practice for crawlability - real HTML metadata, correct DOI handling, sitemaps, and an OAI-PMH feed - so nothing about being found depends on JavaScript or a login wall.

Who it's for

Researchers depositing a copy of a paper already published elsewhere, so it has a stable, citable, indexable home outside the original venue. Authors sharing preprints, conference papers, theses, or technical reports. And journals or publishers who want their output more widely discoverable. Readers use Scholarl to search, browse by journal or subject, and read or download the underlying PDF directly.

How it works

Depositing a paper means submitting its title, abstract, author list, and PDF through Submit. If the work was already published, its original venue - journal, ISSN, volume, issue, pages, and DOI where available - is recorded and displayed on the record, and Scholarl does not mint a new DOI or claim to be the version of record: the original publication is always credited and linked. Records go live immediately with a permanent URL, a downloadable PDF, and one-click citation export in BibTeX, RIS, and EndNote formats.

Every published record is also exposed through OAI-PMH, the standard protocol institutional repositories and metadata aggregators (such as BASE, CORE, and OpenAIRE) use to harvest records automatically, and through a machine-readable sitemap kept current as records are added.
